Cursed Font Generator

Nothing here is a font. Unicode has a block of combining marks — accents, tildes, dots, hooks — and the rule is that each one attaches to the character in front of it. Write an e, add a combining acute, and you get é. The rule never says how many marks a letter may carry, so adding thirty is perfectly valid text. The letter keeps its meaning and its search results; it just sprouts a mess that no line of text was sized to hold.

That is the curse the slider controls. Marks that sit above the baseline climb into the line above, marks below drip into the line under it, and the third group — the overlays, the strikes and slashes that cross the letter itself — stays put. The Rising, Sinking and Bound rows are those three groups on their own, which is worth knowing when a layout can only spare room in one direction.

Possessed text is a different trick with the same result. Greek ο, Cyrillic о and Latin o are three unrelated characters a font draws almost identically, so a word spelled out of the wrong alphabet reads fine and behaves badly: search will not match it and a spell-checker flags a word that looks perfectly spelled. Some letters in that row are exact twins, some are visibly foreign — which is what makes it read as haunted.

Cursed text is a joke format, and it mostly lives where jokes do — Discord replies, Twitter quote-tweets, TikTok comments, a display name that makes the member list look broken. It works there because those fields take any character you can paste and draw it with whatever font the app already has.

The two places it fails are worth knowing before you spend an evening on it. Handles and usernames — Discord’s @username, TikTok and Instagram handles, most sign-up forms — validate their input and reject anything outside a short list of allowed characters, so the styled version simply will not save. And plenty of apps cap the stack: they will draw two or three marks on a letter and silently drop the rest, which is why a line that looked apocalyptic in the box arrives looking mildly damp. That is a rendering limit, not a broken copy. Turn the curse level down, or use Bound, Hexed, Sealed or Void — none of those goes more than two marks deep, and Void uses no marks at all.

One more thing character counters do not tell you: a cursed word is much longer than it looks. Six visible letters at curse level 8 can be well over a hundred characters, and a 2,000-character message limit will stop you well before the screen does. Cursed text is reversible because the original letters are still there — the marks are extra characters riding along beside them, not a change to the letter itself. Backspace over a cursed word in a plain text box and you will see it: each press removes one mark, and the bare letter is the last thing to go.

Possessed text is the one that does not come back that way: those are genuinely different characters, so deleting anything deletes the letter. Retyping is the only fix — which is also why moderation tools treat mixed-alphabet text as evasion rather than decoration.
