Freaky Font Generator

Unicode set aside a block called Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols for the letters that mathematicians need to mean different things — a bold vector, an italic variable, a script operator. One run of it, U+1D4D0 to U+1D503, is bold script: the fat, loopy 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝔂 letters. Nobody is solving equations with them. They escaped into bios because they are characters like any other, and a caption box that has no bold button will still happily store a 𝓫.

That is why only letters change here. Digits, punctuation and emoji have no bold-script form, so they pass through as themselves — 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝔂 24/7, not 𝟮𝟰/𝟳. The lighter script in the second row is the same idea in a different block, except that eleven of its letters (ℬ, ℰ, ℋ, ℯ, ℊ, ℴ and a few more) were already encoded elsewhere years earlier, so Unicode left holes and borrowed them back.

The word is old slang. The spelling is not. Around 2024 the curly script version started showing up on TikTok, X and Discord as a joke about being dramatic — switching to 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝔂 mid-sentence signals that the sentence is not to be taken seriously. A 👅 or a ❤ on the end is part of the bit, and so is the deliberate mismatch between the fancy lettering and whatever daft thing it is spelling out.

Which is worth knowing before you use it straight: the script reads as ironic to most people who recognise it. If you want the curl without the punchline, the serif bold italic row or a cursive style lands softer. If you want to go the other way entirely, the weird font generator keeps going past legible.

There is no keyboard to install and no setting to turn on. Neither phone can type these letters directly, so every method comes down to copying them from somewhere — here, for instance. What you can do is stop copying them twice. On iPhone, open Settings → General → Keyboard → Text Replacement, tap the plus, paste the styled word into Phrase and give it a shortcut like fky. On Android, Gboard keeps the same feature under Settings → Dictionary → Personal dictionary. From then on the shortcut expands into the script anywhere you type.

It lands cleanly in a TikTok or Instagram display name, bio and caption, a Discord message, nickname and status, a YouTube title, and any message app. It does not land in an @handle, a hashtag or most sign-up forms, which validate what you type and reject anything outside plain letters and numbers. Two more things worth expecting: search will not match the styled spelling against the plain one, and a screen reader announces each letter by its Unicode name rather than reading the word — so keep it to a word or a line rather than a paragraph.
