YouTube Hashtag Generator

Ten hashtags from what the video is about — the three that show above the title first, each with the reason it fits.

A fresh batch per press. Your description is sent to our generator — the video is not, because it never leaves your device.

How it works

How to find YouTube hashtags?

  1. Say what the video is about

The topic or the title in a few words. Every hashtag is picked to describe that.

  2. Pass the quick check

A one-tap Turnstile check. It usually clears itself.

  3. Keep or drop

Ten hashtags arrive selected, most specific first. Tap off any that miss.

  4. Copy the block

One press copies the set. Paste it at the end of the description — the first three show above the title.

What YouTube hashtags are actually for?

A hashtag on YouTube does two things: it puts the video on that hashtag’s page, and it shows up as a clickable link above the title — the first three from the description, or the ones in the title itself. It is a label, not a lottery ticket; a tag that names the subject helps YouTube file the video before it has watch history to go on. #viral files it under nothing.

Keep the set short. Past 15 hashtags YouTube ignores all of them, and unrelated or misleading ones can get the video taken down. Three to five specific tags on the last line of the description is the whole job — the title, thumbnail and the first two lines of the description are where the views actually come from.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How does it come up with the hashtags?

From your description it picks ten hashtags that name the subject, format and community of the video, most specific first, and explains each in a line — no #viral, #trending or #fyp filler.

Where do hashtags go on YouTube?

In the description (usually the last line) or the title. If the title has none, the first three hashtags from the description are shown above the title as clickable links.

How many hashtags should a YouTube video have?

Three to five is plenty. YouTube ignores all hashtags on a video with more than 15, and can remove the video for misleading or unrelated tags.

Do hashtags help YouTube videos get views?

A little. They make the video show up on the hashtag’s page and give YouTube one more signal about the topic. The title, thumbnail and description do far more.

What is the difference between hashtags and tags on YouTube?

Hashtags are visible, clickable and start with #, in the title or description. Tags are hidden keywords in the Tags box, comma-separated, mainly for misspellings — the YouTube tag generator makes those.

What are YouTube’s hashtag rules?

No spaces (use #TravelVlog, not #Travel Vlog), nothing misleading or unrelated, no harassment or hate, and no more than 15 per video or all of them are ignored.
