Is it free, and do I need an account?

Free, no signup, no watermark, and no limit on how many codes you make. The code is drawn by JavaScript in your own browser — there is nothing to pay for and nothing for us to store.

What can I make a QR code for?

Anything with a URL. The common cases are video links, youtu.be share links, Shorts, channel and @handle URLs, and playlists. Non-YouTube links encode too; the “open in app” toggle only reshapes recognised YouTube addresses.

How do I get the link to a video or channel?

Under any video, press Share and copy the link — that gives a youtu.be URL, which works here. For a channel, open the channel page and copy the address bar; it looks like youtube.com/@handle. Playlists: open the playlist and copy the URL with ?list= in it.

Will the code open the YouTube app?

With “open in the YouTube app” on, the code carries the clean www.youtube.com link, which Android and iOS hand to the YouTube app when it is installed. Without the app it opens in the browser. Start times (?t=) are kept; share tracking parameters are stripped.

Does the QR code ever expire?

No. This is a static QR code: the URL is written directly into the pattern, so the code works for as long as the URL does. There is no shortener in the middle, no scan quota, and no service that can go away and take your printed materials with it. If the video is deleted or your handle changes, regenerate the code for the new URL.
