How it works

How to look up a Discord user by ID

  1. Turn on Developer Mode

    In Discord, open User Settings, go to Advanced and switch on Developer Mode. It is what adds “Copy User ID” to the menus.

  2. Copy the User ID

    Right-click a user (press and hold on a phone) and choose Copy User ID. It is a number 17 to 20 digits long — not the username.

  3. Paste it and press Check

    Paste the ID above, press Check and pass the quick human check. The username, the creation date, the badges, the avatar and the banner come back.

What a Discord ID tells you

A Discord ID never changes, even when the username, the display name and the avatar all do — which is why moderators and bot developers identify people by it. The lookup shows the account the ID belongs to today: its username and global name, its public badges, its avatar and banner, and its accent and banner colors.

The creation date is not looked up at all: it is stored inside the ID itself, so it is exact to the millisecond. Only public profile data is shown — nothing about servers, messages, email or activity.

How do I find a Discord user ID?

Can I look up someone by username instead?

No. Discord only answers lookups by ID. Usernames can be changed and reused, while an ID stays with the account for good.

Will the user know I looked them up?

No. The lookup reads the public profile through Discord’s API. Nothing is sent to the user and you do not need to share a server with them.

How do you know when the account was created?

Every Discord ID is a snowflake: its first 42 bits are the millisecond it was made, counted from the start of 2015. The date is read straight off the ID.

Is the Discord ID lookup free?

Yes. It is free, with no signup and no Discord login. There is a quick human check before each lookup to keep bots out.
