Telegram Channel & Group Name Generator

Name ideas for a Telegram channel or group — pick the topic and the style, and get up to fifteen names to copy, most with a matching t.me username.

A channel is a broadcast: you post, subscribers read.

Up to fifteen per press. Your answers are sent to our generator — nothing else is, and the names are not stored.

How it works

How to name a Telegram channel or group?

  1. Channel or group

A channel is a broadcast — you post, people subscribe — so its names sound like something worth following. A group is a chat where everyone talks, so its names sound like somewhere to join in.

  2. Pick the topic and the style

News, deals, study notes, jobs, stock market, crypto, quotes, memes and sixteen more. Aesthetic, professional, catchy, funny, stylish, cute or minimal — or leave it on Surprise me.

  3. Add a detail, if you have one

A brand, a city, an exam, a language. “NEET biology in Hinglish” or “Pune weekend treks” gets names nobody else in Telegram search has.

  4. Copy a name and its username

Tap the channel’s name, then Edit, and paste. To make it public, open Channel type (Group type for a group), pick Public and paste the username after t.me/. Then fit its photo into Telegram’s circle and see who already has a username.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How does it come up with the names?

From whether it is a channel or a group, the topic, the style and any detail you add, it writes up to fifteen names — plain search-friendly ones, publication-style “The …” names, “Daily” and “Hub” names, puns and short brandable words — each with a line on why it fits and, where one fits Telegram’s rules, a username for its t.me link.

What is the character limit for a Telegram channel name?

128 characters for a channel or group name, emoji included; the description below it can be 255. The names here are kept to about 30 so they show in full in the chat list and in search, and every one has its count next to it.

What are the rules for a Telegram channel username?

The username is the part after t.me/ in a public channel’s or group’s link. It is 5 to 32 characters of English letters, digits and underscores; it has to start with a letter, cannot end with an underscore or have two in a row. Every bot’s username ends in “bot”, so a channel’s should not — it would read as a bot’s — and none suggested here does. Capitals are allowed but do not count — t.me/DealDrop and t.me/dealdrop are the same link. Every username suggested here already follows these rules.

How do I change a Telegram channel or group name?

Open the channel or group, tap its name at the top, then tap the pencil (Android) or Edit (iPhone). Paste the new name into the name field and tap the tick or Done. On Telegram Desktop it is the three-dot menu → Manage channel (or Manage group). In a channel only admins can; in a group, admins — or every member, if the group’s permissions allow it.

How do I make my Telegram channel public?

Open the channel, tap its name, then Edit → Channel type and choose Public. Type a username in the t.me/ field — Telegram tells you straight away whether it is free — and save. For a group it is Edit → Group type. A private channel or group has an invite link that starts with t.me/+ instead, and does not show up in search.

Telegram Username Checker
Can I use emoji or stylish fonts in a Telegram channel name?

Emoji, yes — they count towards the 128 characters, and one at the start or the end is plenty. Fancy Unicode fonts work too, but Telegram search matches plain letters, so a name written in them is hard to find. Keep the words plain and let the emoji carry the style.

Telegram Text Formatter
Should I make a channel or a group?

A channel if you post and others read — news, deals, notes, quotes; it has no member limit and only admins post. A group if the members talk to each other — a community, a class, a gaming squad; it holds up to 200,000 members. Pick the matching switch and the names are pitched to fit.

Is it free?

Yes. No signup, no app, no daily limit — press again for another batch.
