How to make a fake WhatsApp chat?

  1. Set up the contact

    Name, the line under it — online, typing…, last seen — and a photo. Crop that photo round first with the crop locked to a perfect circle so the face lands where the app puts it.

  2. Write the conversation

    Add messages from either side, give each a time, set the ticks on yours, add reactions and date chips, and reorder freely.

  3. Dress the phone

    iPhone or Android, dark or light mode, the doodle wallpaper, the status-bar clock and battery, and the ₹ button if the chat is meant to be from India.

  4. Download the screenshot

    Download a PNG at the size that phone saves: 1206×2622 for an iPhone, 1080×2400 for Android.

Is this free, and does the screenshot have a watermark?

Yes, free, and no. There is no logo in the image and no sign-in wall — download as many chats as you like.

Does anything get uploaded — the messages, the profile photo?

No. The chat is typed into the page and the screenshot is drawn by your own browser's canvas. A profile photo you pick is read from your device and never sent anywhere; the PNG is made and downloaded locally.

Can I make it look like an iPhone or an Android screenshot?

Both. Each is drawn from a screenshot of the current WhatsApp on that phone. The iPhone version has the floating back and call buttons, rounder bubbles with the tail on the last bubble of a run, and the + and sticker message bar, at 1206×2622 — the size an iPhone 15 Pro or 16 saves. The Android version has the flat header, tails on the first bubble, and the three-button navigation bar, at 1080×2400.

How do I get the blue ticks?

Every message you send has a ticks menu: one grey tick for sent, two grey for delivered, two blue for read. Messages from the other person have no ticks, as in the app.

Is it OK to make a fake WhatsApp chat?

It's a prop, meant for jokes, fiction, skits and design mockups — not for passing off as a real conversation. Using one to defame, scam, harass or fabricate evidence harms real people and can be illegal. Say it's fake whenever someone could otherwise mistake it for real.

Does it work on a phone?
