Drop a photo
A person, a pet, a face pulling an expression — anything with a clear subject. The background is cut away on your device; the first time, the cut-out model downloads once (about 44 MB).
Make it look like a sticker
A white die-cut outline, a soft shadow, and a caption in meme-style letters. Or keep the photo whole in a circle or a rounded square. No photo at all? Make a text sticker.
Check it in a chat
The preview shows the sticker as it lands in a WhatsApp chat, on the light or the dark theme — which is where an outline earns its keep.

How to add your sticker to WhatsApp
WhatsApp can now make a sticker from any picture on its own — it just cannot cut out the background or add the outline well. So make the sticker here, then hand the file to WhatsApp’s Create sticker:

Just want the subject on a transparent background at full size, for something other than a sticker? Remove the background from the whole photo. And for a joke that needs the whole conversation, mock up the WhatsApp chat itself.
